East of England
Ambulance Service
Dean Richards Cert. EMC (UEA).
I joined Essex Ambulance Service in 1993 working on patient transport service based in serving contracts in East London. After 3 years I decided to move onto the front line Ambulances with the London Ambulance Service based at the North East Headquarters in Ilford. During this time I received a bravery award which I'm far to modest to talk about!
In 1999 I transferred to East Anglian Ambulance Service based at Hunstanton in Norfolk where I have remained since. I joined the Kings Lynn Cycle Response Unit from it's inception in 2008. I have just completed the certificate in Higher Education in Emergency Medical Care. I have also trained and worked on the London Ambulance Service Cycle Response Units in the West End of London on a part time contract
I still enjoy the challenge of working on the Cycle Response Unit and I am really proud of the achievements of this small unit. I think we have shown that Cycle Response Units can be a success in both large cities like Norwich as well as market towns like Kings Lynn. I have completed the Public Safety Cycling Response Course based on the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) in London.
My interests outside of work include football, West Ham Utd, online gaming, cycling, and leaving everything to the last minute!
