Meet The Team...

Carl Smith - Paramedic Clinical Team Leader

I have worked for the East of England Ambulance NHS Trust for ten years. I started as a Student Ambulance Technician and qualified as a State Registered Paramedic in 2003. I have completed my certificate in Emergency Medical Care in 1999 and I am studying towards a degree in acute and critical care with the UEA.

As part of my career development I spent time in the Trust Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) dispatching resources. In 2005 I was appointed Clinical Team Leader of Hunstanton Ambulance station. I have been heavily involved in the implementation and development of the Kings Lynn Cycle Response Unit and now look after the day to day running of the CRU.

I joined the ambulance service in 2003 as a student ambulance technician and qualified last year as a Paramedic. During my training I completed my Cert HE in Emergency Medical Care at the UEA and intend to study for the diploma. I currently work on front line ambulances at Hunstanton ambulance station as well as the CRU.

I have been involved in the CRU in since its inception in 2007, where I participated in initial summer trial. I find the CRU an excellent way to keep fit and test my clinical decision making as a solo responder.

Prior to joining the ambulance service I served in British Army with the Royal Corps of Signals. This is where I first became interested in pre-hospital medicine when I completed my patrol medics course.
