Tangent Club is a social networking organisation for ladies over the age of 40 who are either the wife or widow / partner of a former member of Round Table or a former member of Ladies Circle. It is part of the Round Table family of clubs together with Round Table, Ladies Circle and 41 Club. The first Tangent Club was formed 40 years ago and our local branch (no 520) was formed 30 years ago.
We meet monthly, mainly in members homes. The meetings consist of business of the club and often a speaker or visit of local interest. These speakers are often from local charities or organistions of interest and a fee or donation is given. We also offer support nationally and internationally, an example of this is the Haiti Earthquake Disaster.
Our chairman and other club officers are elected annually, the current chairman is Ann Wadsworth.
A cheque for £1500 was presented to the Kings Lynn Cycle response unit by the landlord Micheal Bunn of the lord Napier pub in Kings Lynn.
Michael and some of his customers put a team into the its a knock out day, which was held recently in the walks. Michael said that the team dressed as french maids, had a great day and finished first winning the £1000 prize given by organisers of the event the Lions.
Michael and his team also raised a further £500 from sponsorship. Unsure who to donate the money to, Michael said that he had been told about the Paramedic on a bike treating somebody who had collapsed in the town centre and decided to donate the money.
CRU project coordinator Carl Smith said this was an excellent donation and thanked Michael and his team for their effort and generosity. The money will go towards a miniature defibrillator which is desperately needed by the team to replace the heavy defibrillator currently being used.
Also present in the photo are John Groom Immediate past president, Gerry Tann Welfare president and Mike Parsons Lions member. From the ambulance service Carl Smith Project coordinator and Mark Collins CRU medic. Michael Bunn Landlord of the Lord Napier overlooked by the stunning french maids.
Pat Stainsby President for the Inner Wheel presents Carl Smith Team Leader with a cheque of £250 to support the Cycle Response Unit.
They made us feel very welcome, supplied us with a lovely meal at Le Strange Arms Hunstanton. They even bought me a birthday card! What a lovely bunch of ladies, no other way to spend my 35th birthday.
Paul and Jim, two Paramedics who work on the CRU spent an evening with the club, giving them a talk on the history of the CRU and its future plans.
The Rotary club of Kings Lynn were one of the first groups to make a donation to the CRU and without their donation; we certainly would not be as well equipped to do our job as we are. If you would like us to come and give a talk to your group please contact us on 07753691005 or email us via the contacts page on this site
